Overview
Synais is designed around one rule: important wallet actions should be reviewed on the hardware itself. The companion interface can prepare a transaction, but the device is intended to display the details you are approving.
Never type a recovery phrase into a website, browser extension, chat, email, or support form. A legitimate recovery flow should happen through trusted device software and the hardware itself.
Before you start
- Use the device in a private environment during initial setup.
- Have an offline place ready for your recovery backup.
- Do not photograph or cloud-sync recovery words.
- Verify you are using official software before connecting the device.
Device setup
- Connect the Synais device over its supported connection method.
- Follow the on-device welcome flow.
- Choose whether to create a new wallet or restore an existing recovery backup.
- Set the device protection options offered by the final firmware.
- Confirm the device is recognized by the companion interface.
The exact setup screens and firmware terminology are still subject to change.
Create a new wallet
The intended launch flow keeps secret material on the hardware. If recovery words are used, they should be shown and confirmed through the device flow—not rendered by this website.
Backup discipline
Write the recovery material offline, verify it carefully, and store it somewhere physically separate from the device.
Restore from recovery backup
Restoration is intended to happen through trusted Synais device software and the hardware. Do not paste a recovery phrase into a webpage. If any page asks for one, stop.
Receive assets
- Choose the asset in the companion interface.
- Request a receive address.
- Verify the full address on the Synais display before sharing it.
Example only: bc1qexample7f3...9d2. Never use addresses copied from documentation.
Send and sign a transaction
- Build the transaction in the companion interface.
- Read the destination, network, amount and fee.
- Compare those values with what is shown on the device.
- Physically confirm only when they match your intent.
If the device cannot show enough information for you to understand the action, cancel and investigate.
Firmware and updates
The launch target is a signed, explicit firmware-update process with clear version information and user confirmation. The exact update policy, release cadence and source-availability model are not finalized in this prototype.
Lost or damaged device
Your recovery backup is the continuity mechanism—not customer support. Synais support should never need your recovery phrase to help you. A replacement-device flow should restore access from your own backup.
Troubleshooting
Device not detected
Reconnect the cable, unlock the device if required, verify the companion app is current, and try a known-good USB port/cable.
Transaction details differ
Cancel immediately. Rebuild the transaction and verify the address source.
Unexpected recovery prompt
Stop. Confirm you are using official software and that the device has not been reset.
Security best practices
- Verify addresses on-device.
- Keep recovery material offline and private.
- Do not trust unsolicited “support” messages.
- Update firmware only through documented official channels.
- Test recovery procedures with small amounts before relying on them operationally.
